Zymox Otic

Zymox Otic Pet Ear Treatment is a non-invasive enzymatic solution used to treat and prevent infections leading to otitis externa in dogs and cats. Zymox Otic is safe for use once per day on persistent cases of otitis externa.

Zymox Otic is used to remediate and inhibit the development of acute and chronic otitis externa—an inflammation of the external ear canal that appears as a redness and swelling accompanied by tenderness and pain. Otitis externa can be caused by bacterial, fungal, or yeast infections resulting from excessive hair or skin folds, water damage or physical injury, or a suppressed immune system.

How It Works

One application daily delivers a powerful three-part system of active enzymes that destroy antibiotic resistant bacteria as well as other fungal and viral microorganisms that can lead to infection, including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Streptococcus pyogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida albicans, Streptococcus intermedius, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Proteus mirabilis, Malassezia pachydermatis, and MRSA.

The three enzymes in the solution are lysozyme, which kills harmful bacteria by disrupting the formation of their cell walls, and lactoperoxidase and glucose oxidase—which, together, produce hypothiocyanate or hypoiodite ions that oxidize the metabolic pathways of microorganisms.

Because the medicine does not include antibiotics, it is safe to use on a repeated basis as needed. Hydrocortisone in the medicine provides your pet with immediate relief from itching, soreness, and inflammation.

NOTE: This product is available as a hydrocortisone-free solution for pregnant pets or pets with sensitivities or allergies to hydrocortisone.
